About Us

BLF Breathe Easy Morecambe

BLF Breathe Easy Morecambe was formed in March 2003. We meet on the third Wednesday in the month from 2pm until 4pm at the Church Of The Ascension in the vestry.
The monthly meetings provide an opportunity to socialise and talk. We have speakers, outings and social occasions, which are all aimed at improving our quality of life.

In March of 2004, after seeing evidence that showed getting“breathless” was actually good for us the group made the decision to start an exercise class. This takes place weekly, on Tuesday 2pm, at VVV Health and Leisure Club.
There is a small charge for this session and we have a qualified instructor, unfortunately our respiratory nurse who used to join us occasionally has now left and we are waiting for a replacement.

We are a forward looking support group, always interested in suggestions for activities and events, and new members are always welcome to come along and join us.

The British Lung Foundation

The British Lung Foundation is a registered charity No. 326730.
It’s aims are:–

  1. To promote and produce information and awareness on lung disease and lung health.
  2. To fund research into the diagnostic treatment and prevention of all lung diseases.
  3. To support people with lung disease through the Breathe Easy club.

The BLFs Breathe Easy club was launched in 1991 by Trevor Clay, who was the first male general secretary of the Royal College of Nursing. Trevor suffered from emphysema, and understood the limits of those with breathing difficulties. Recognising the need for people with similar conditions to get together on a regular basis to support each other, he formed Breathe Easy. Trevor died in 1995, but his legacy to the BLF lives on with over 100 groups throughout the UK.
